The Prostate is a walnut-sized gland in the male reproductive system just below the bladder, surrounding part of the urethra. The gland consists of thousands of tiny fluid-producing cells and is part of the exocrine system. Exocrine glands produce substances which we secrete outside of the body, as opposed to endocrine glands, which produce substances for secretion within the body.
The main function of the prostate is to supply fluids for the male reproductive system. The prostate undergoes two major growth periods during a man’s life, the first taking place during puberty. This is a rapid growth period which sees the gland double in size as a male reaches sexual maturity. However, at around age 25, the gland begins to grow again due to a combination of hormonal changes, nutrition, and environmental factors. This second growth period is the cause of concern, since a healthy mature prostate remains small in size. Provelex Prostate Support delivers nutrients which combine to help maintain overall prostate health.
When the prostate is unhealthy, it swells, eventually clamping off the urethra where it passes through the prostate. When the urethra is obstructed, the bladder weakens and becomes prone to infection, the kidneys become compromised, and the man’s overall health suffers. Keeping your prostate healthy will help to keep you healthy later into life. |
